Changing the location of your song files

The songs you import are stored in the iTunes Music folder, inside the iTunes folder located in Documents. The song files are arranged by artist and album name. You can store the music folder elsewhere. The iTunes Music Library file that keeps track of the songs you have, must remain in Documents, inside the iTunes folder.

Choose Preferences from the iTunes application menu, then select the Advanced tab. Click the Change button to select a new location for your song files.

Song files in the old location are not moved but new songs you import will be stored in the new location.
